Hedon – The Stylish Man’s Helmet

WHEN IT COMES to motorcycle helmets, the second most important thing is style – your helmet needs to look cool.

I didn’t want an overly designed crash helmet that knocked out anything with an odd shape, too much colour, or a pattern. I needed something that felt less offensive and aligned with my image.

When you visit the Oracle – Google and type in key terms: “cool motorcycle helmets”, “motorcycle helmet fashion”, and “chic helmets. There is every likelihood that Hedon will appear.

Over the years, manufacturers have improved crash helmets' design aesthetics, safety, comfort, and weight. But the Retro-style crash helmet market has exploded in response to bike trends, with even big brands such as Arai and Shoei joining the party, creating a massive array of vintage styles, themes, and colours incorporating modern safety features and technology.

I am someone who loves and appreciates works of art and beautiful things. When I first saw the Hedon crash helmet, I knew I had to own this luxury cafe racer helmet. It is a handmade classic British retro style designed in London. It features beautiful leather piping around the helmet base ports and has a unique brass nameplate, anodised round brow vents, visor clamps, and an anti-fog double lens with a wide field of view, giving it a unique classic look.

What I also learned in my research is that five components work together to provide you with the ultimate protection:

Outer Shell - The outer shell of a helmet is usually made from fibre-reinforced composites or thermoplastics. Designed to compress the moment it hits something hard, it dispenses energy from the impact to help lessen the force.

Impact Absorbing Liner - Made from expanded polystyrene, the liner helps to cushion and absorb shock.

Comfort Padding - The soft layer beside your head helps keep you comfortable and provides a snug fit (so you know that helmet isn’t going anywhere).

Retention Strap - This helmet part is typically known as the ‘chin strap’, a visual part that helps keep it on your head during a crash.  The shell and the liner compress when hit hard, spreading impact forces throughout the helmet.

Safety Rating – One of the essential ones while riding in the UK is the ECE standard. Any helmets not tested by the ECE 22.05 are not legal for public use on roads.
